The factory pre-cut openings across multiple sizes allow for immediate, consistent application without on-the-spot trimming. What is the difference between the tape border and no-tape-border version of this barrier?
The "With Tape" version includes an integrated adhesive tape border around the outer edge of the barrier for additional skin securement. This version (without tape) has a clean outer edge and is designed for ostomates who prefer to add their own tape or who do not require additional securement.
Do I need to add tape if I use the no-tape version?
Not necessarily. Many experienced ostomates find the barrier adheres adequately without additional tape. If extra security is needed, Hollister and other brands offer ostomy accessory tape that can be applied around the barrier perimeter.
How do I select the correct opening size?
Your stoma should be measured with a measuring guide at each appliance change — stoma size can change, particularly in the first 6–8 weeks after surgery. Select the opening size that is approximately 1/8 inch larger than your stoma measurement.
