About Medline Voldyne Incentive Spirometer, 4000 mL

Medline Voldyne Incentive Spirometers are handheld medical devices used to accurately measure pulmonary function. Designed to hold comfortably while performing breathing exercises, the goal is to improve lung function over time and keep lungs healthy. These incentive spirometers have an ergonomic swiveled mouthpiece to allow patients to create a tight seal to enable more accurate measurement.  Flexible tubing gives the user flexibility in how they would like to position themselves during use. Calibrations are listed on both sides of the tube, allowing for easy-to-read measurements. This device reads volumes up to 4000 ml and comes with an adjustable goal indicator. The Flow indicator with a smiley face provides a visual target for the desired inhalation, and the bright green flow indicator makes it easy for patients to see results. Lung illness and related issues are incredibly difficult circumstances to overcome for any person or loved one. Luckily, an incentive spirometer can assist with recovery and accurate lung function measurements after such events. These easy-to-use devices can strengthen breathing muscles and improve lung function, making them an essential part of any caregivers’ supplies.

  • Asthma
  • COPD
  • Pneumonia
  • Other respiratory conditions.
  • Following major chest or abdominal surgery

How do you use a spirometer?

  • Sit up straight as you can. Hold the spirometer instrument in an upright position with the smiley face flow indicator facing you.
  • Breath out fully and seal your lips tightly around the mouthpiece.
  • Breathe in slowly and as deeply as you can until the piston is in the outlined area. This slow breath will raise the piston as the air sacs in your lungs open.
  • Hold your breath as long as possible then remove the mouthpiece. Exhale slowly. Continue slow breathing while the pistons reset. Coughing after each interval is recommended to remove mucus.
