Nutricia IVA Anamix® Early Years is a leucine-free powdered infant formula specifically designed for the dietary management of isovaleric acidemia (IVA) and other proven disorders of leucine metabolism in infants from birth to 12 months, and as a supplementary feed up to 3 years of age. Isovaleric acidemia is a rare inherited organic acid disorder in which the body is unable to properly break down leucine, causing a buildup of isovaleric acid and related metabolites that can lead to metabolic crises, neurological damage, and developmental complications if left untreated. IVA Anamix Early Years provides a carefully balanced blend of all other essential and non-essential amino acids — excluding leucine — along with carbohydrates, fat, vitamins, minerals, and trace elements to meet the complete nutritional needs of affected infants. The formula includes DHA and ARA to support brain and eye development, and a prebiotic GOS and FOS fiber blend to promote digestive health and immune system function. Who Should Be Using This?
IVA Anamix® Early Years is intended for infants from birth to 12 months with a confirmed diagnosis of isovaleric acidemia (IVA) or other proven disorders of leucine metabolism, and as a supplementary feed up to 3 years of age. It must only be used under medical supervision and as directed by a healthcare professional or metabolic dietitian. It is not suitable as a sole source of nutrition and is not appropriate for infants without a confirmed diagnosis.
How Do You Use or Apply This Product?
- Wash hands thoroughly and clean the preparation area before preparing formula.
- To make a standard dilution (21 kcal per fluid ounce), add 1 unpacked level scoop (5g) of powder to each fluid ounce of cooled, boiled water. Use only the scoop provided. For accuracy, formula should be weighed on a gram scale.
- Pour the required amount of cooled, boiled water into a sterilized feeding bottle, then add the prescribed number of leveled scoops of formula. Place the cap on the bottle and shake until the powder dissolves. Shake immediately before use.
- IVA Anamix Early Years may be mixed with warm or cool water that has been boiled. Do not boil formula or use a microwave to prepare or warm formula.
- Freshly prepared formula is best. Formula prepared in advance must be cooled rapidly, stored in the refrigerator, and used within 24 hours. Discard any formula remaining in the bottle after 1 hour of feeding.
- Store unopened cans in a cool, dry place. Avoid extreme temperatures. Once opened, use contents within 2 weeks and replace the lid firmly after each use.
